Green River Basin Federal Credit Union is a community chartered credit union offering financial services and credit union membership to individuals, families, and family members living, working, worshiping, or attending school in Sweetwater, Uinta, Sublette, or Lincoln Counties in Southwest Wyoming.

On March 21, 1967 six Union Pacific Employees borrowed $5,000.00 from Green River First National Bank and Green River Union Pacific Employees Federal Credit Union was born.  There wasn’t an actual office until October, 1969 when Babe Stone was appointed manager and the credit union office was located in the enclosed front porch of the Stone home for 20 years.

We have come a long way from a front porch with the purchase in 1997 of the Green River building, once owned by the bank that loaned us the money to start the credit union, as well as opening an office in Rock Springs.  What started out as one employee has evolved to 7 employees.

On January 31, 2002 NCUA approved the merger of Mansface Federal Credit Union with Green River U.P. Employees Federal Credit Union.  On June 24, 2004 we changed our name to Green River Basin Federal Credit Union.

On December 1, 2005 NCUA approved a community charter for the credit union allowing membership to anyone living, working, worshiping, or attending school in Sweetwater, Uinta, Lincoln, and Sublette Counties of Southwest Wyoming.

Today, Green River Basin Federal Credit Union is as strong and durable as the railroad.

We are a credit union where our first concern is our members; nationwide the credit union motto is “People Helping People”; therefore, we do what we can for our members. Green River Basin Federal Credit Union is a COOP owned by its members.

We are proud of our Union Pacific Railroad heritage. In the early years of our country, the railroad helped “expand” the nation to help bring products and services to the west. Keeping in line of our heritage of “expansion”, we are happy that we have been able to grow with our community to include all of Sweetwater, Uinta, Sublette, and Lincoln Counties in Wyoming to help bring credit union benefits to Southwest Wyoming.

As we now enter the next phase of our development as a credit union, we are excited to announce that we will be officially merged with WyHy Federal Credit Union as of Oct. 1, 2021. WyHy Federal Credit Union was chartered in December 1953 for Wyoming Highway Department employees and their families. Seven members each contributed $5 and the credit union was born... with assets totaling $35. Those founding members believed in the Credit Union philosophy of "People Helping People" and to consider each member's situation individually and provide prompt financial advice to help members manage their finances.

WyHy was originally located in a small state office in the Barrett Building in downtown Cheyenne. Today, WyHy has branch locations in both Cheyenne and Casper, as well as over 5,600 branch locations and nearly 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide with CO-OP Shared Branching. The 14,000 square foot facility in Cheyenne features two drive-up lanes each featuring Live Interactive Teller Machines, and houses the WyHy Contact Center. This building acts as the main office for WyHy. Our 5,000 square foot Casper facility also features drive-up lanes with Live Interactive Teller Machines.

WyHy has continued to grow by opening our field of membership to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in our great State of Wyoming. Today, WyHy is nearly $270,000,000 in assets with more than 15,000 Members. WyHy is excited to welcome the staff and members of Green River Basin Federal Credit Union to the WyHy family.
